NH Cartoonist, Marek Bennett, is kickstarting his latest book, The Civil War Diary of Freeman Colby Vol.2.
Freeman Colby Vol 1 was dubbed a YALSA Great Graphic Novel For Teens in 2017. We’re excited to see what is in store for this next installment.
Judge Nominated for Greenaway
Huge congrats to Lita Judge who has been longlisted for the CILIP Kate Greenaway medal. This award is like the prestigious Caldecott medal except across the pond, in England. Three cheers for Lita.
Marty Kelley Gets Famous
The coolest thing happened! Dr. Carla Hayden, the librarian of congress, continued the tradition of reading children a holiday story in the Thomas Jefferson Building’s Great Hall. This year, she read a few books to commemorate the winter holidays. One was very familiar to us! Santa’s Underwear: A Visit from Saint Nicholas by Marty Rhodes Figley and illustrated by our own Marty Kelley. Go Marty! You’re so famous! Read more about the event and its history here.
New Book Forthcoming
Adi Rule, author of Strange Sweet Song and Hidden Twin has a new book deal! Adi is writing a middle grade novel for scholastic called Hearts of Ice, hitting bookshelves in September of 2019. See what her agent has to say:

Books for Good
This past week, Erin E. Moulton donated upwards of $2,000 to charities that support sexual violence survivors. This book, written by 25 philanthropic survivors, is working to help educate more people about juvenile sexual violence within the pages of a book and providing tangible monetary aid in reality. Kickass!
